Thank You!!!

Seldom do I get political on here but on this issue I firmly support our governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision not to grant Clemency to former Crips gang leader Stanley Tookie Williams. So woopie doo...The man wrote some books about staying out of gangs that he helped form and these gangs continue to kill. My question is where would he be now if he had not been convicted. Writing books to help kids? I think not!!! He had a right to a fair trial, which he got. He had the right to file God knows how many freaking appeals, as far as I am concerened he now has no rights.

Have a super Monday!!

I hope that you don’t mind me giving you my opinion…I have mixed feelings regarding this issue. I think it’s sad that they waited 20 yrs to kill this man. A lot of people repent and sometimes even become these ‘born again Christians’—finding “God”…and then realize what they did was in fact, wrong. I’m a firm believer in forgiveness. That’s what God did for His children. I don’t believe violence will ever cease violence.

Now on the other side of my opinion, I feel awful about the family who lost their loved ones over this guy’s actions. The thing that bothers me---is ‘when they finally killed him’. Such bad timing.

Putting him to death does instill a ‘fear’ in the gangs minds—that yes, even after somewhat years, you will be put to death over your involvement in gang related killing.

It’s such a mixed feeling—and it all has to do with the timing of it.

Thanks for the thought provoking post!

Jill, I agree and he had a defense team better than most people. I know I am late getting over here...but the news has already forgot it. The same as the citizens in CA I'm sure.

They picked the wrong poster guy for trying to abolish the death penalty, give me a break. I support the death penalty but I like to know that all has been proven that someone is guilty. Everything I have heard and read would indicate he was. I feel for the victims and their families.

I hope Joseph Smith-FL (sex predator/killer) and Scott Peterson's-San Quien- death row cells rattled when all was going down. Unfortuately though as long as it takes in CA for the execution...he will probably die of old age.

I will be posting about John Couey (sex predator/killer of Jessica Lunsford)when his day comes...that is for sure.

Glad you stated how you feel!!
